Oct 9, 2019 01:00 PM Pacific Time (US and Canada): The Power of Reflection in a Distracted World with Donald Altman, MA, LPC

We are delighted to have Donald Altman MA, LPC, join the GAINS community in a conversation about using reflection as an important coping skill in a distracted world. Join us as we ask whether the intrusion of technology is causing us to lose our ability to read and think deeply? In our lives that are focused on productivity are we sacrificing our ability to be present in the here and now? Are we becoming human doings and turning away from our nature as human beings?

Donald Altman will lead us in a discussion on the power of mindful reflection to build focus, expand awareness, and enhance connections. He expertly integrates neuroscience with mindfulness to demonstrate how reflection builds resilience and buffers stress.

Donald Altman, M.A., LPC is a psychotherapist, former Buddhist monk, award-winning writer and international workshop trainer. Profiled in Spirituality & Health’s Living Spiritual Teachers Project and featured in The Mindfulness Movie, Donald was past Vice-President of The Center for Mindful Eating.

A multi-award-winning writer whose career spans over 30 years, Donald’s newest book is Reflect: Awaken to the Wisdom of the Here and Now. He has also authored several pioneering books on mindful eating and living. Donald has taught thousands of mental health clinicians how to therapeutically use mindfulness interventions. He also leads retreats for mindful living and eating that blend ancient practices with modern science.
