Aware: The Science and Practice of Presence – a Living Journal Book Club. 3 Sessions: March 6

Mandy Shewfelt

Dan Siegel and members of the GAINS board discuss  Aware: The Science and Practice of Presence. This groundbreaking book presents, in-depth and step by step, the Wheel of Awareness meditation practice. This life-changing method of practice helps to cultivate more focus, presence, and peace in our lives.

For decades Dan Siegel has explored the intersection between neuroscience and the nature of consciousness. It is out of this fascination that he developed the Wheel of Awareness meditation practice which he has taught to thousands of people all around the world

The book takes an in-depth look at the science that underlies meditation’s effectiveness and reveals how the Wheel and other mindfulness practices hone our ability to focus, open our awareness, and help us to practice kind intention toward ourselves and those around us.

In this first meeting we discussed Part I: The Wheel of Awareness: Idea and Practice, covering pages 1-120. We hope you will join us for an hour of engaging dialogue, in the first of three parts of this Living Journal book club.
