Lily Awakening by Bonnie Badenoch

The art of applying the principles of IPNB within the therapeutic relationship is at the center of GAINS' mission.  In this tender article, Bonnie and Lily pursue healing from deeply traumatic childhood circumstances by gently holding Lily's brain in mind together.  It appeared in the premier edition of Connections & Reflections in Spring 2006.

From Bonnie's article...

"Lily came in saying she hesitated exposing anyone to her pain.  She felt I wouldn't be strong enough to withstand it, and that in particular it would destory my spiritual beliefs....  I came to understand that in those first sentences, she was showing me her deep implicit mental model, learned in the earliest days of life, that she is an inherently destructive force, that it would be dangerous for anyone to get too close to her."
